That’s why we’re sending three students from Hawai‘i on a road trip across the state to interview professionals working in engaging and impactful jobs throughout a wide array of industries, with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts. Explore the norm-breaking advances taking place in Arizona as Anna, Jonathan, and Shandiin—three college students—road trip across the state to talk to Arizonans pushing the frontiers of ingenuity. As the roadtrippers travel from revived old ghost towns to cutting-edge space companies, they realize that innovation isn’t limited to one place or one industry. Delve into the possibilities of cybersecurity through the eyes of Antwan, Emily, and Mansi, three aspiring cybersecurity pros who are exploring what's possible in the wide‐open world of data, security, and more. As they talk to all kinds of innovators who are leading the charge to protect our online lives—hackers, engineers, executives, and more—they learn that cybersecurity is a place to experiment, explore, and create your own way forward.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with University of Maryland University College (UMUC) to send three aspiring cybersecurity pros on a road trip around the country to seek out trailblazers and innovators in the field and learn from their experiences and struggles. Auto and diesel technician careers

Hitchhike along for a supercharged adventure as Alexandra, Dylan, and Michael—three aspiring auto and diesel technicians—go from monster truck rallies to high-tech labs to discover the growing possibilities in automotive and diesel tech. As they speak to gearheads in every corner of the field—from tractor builders, to Porsche collectors, Fast and the Furious technicians, and more—they learn that the stereotype of the grease monkey mechanic is outdated. Being a technician means being on the frontlines of technology, racing towards the future.

Our cars and trucks are high-powered and high-tech—and they need an elite workforce to keep them running. Military veterans finding new purpose after service

Experience the trials and triumphs of post-military transition through the stories of Helen, Sam, and Bernard—three transitioning service members who set off on a road trip across the country to discover their purpose in the civilian world. As they interview fellow veterans who’ve found fulfilling work beyond service, the team learns that the skills cultivated in the military aren’t limited to the battlefield; they can be applied to any number of exciting careers. Combat might be behind them, but a new mission emerges: the fight to build a life of purpose begins—for which their head and hearts will be their greatest weapons.

Determined to clarify their futures despite their murky status, they set out to talk to fellow immigrants who’ve found success, learning that lines on a map don’t make you who you are. It's not where you're born, but where you go in life, that defines you.

From unstable foster homes to financial insecurities, the obstacles they’ve encountered have, at times, seemed insurmountable. But even with everything stacked against them, they saw that college could be their way out—so they fought for it, tooth and nail.
Now, as the three cross the country to hear how others beat the odds to make it through graduation and beyond, they’ll see that by pursuing their college degrees, they’re not just shaking free of what’s weighing them down—they’re joining a rising tide with the power to lift up all of the communities they love.

What's next for Indiana

Indiana residents Shannon, Dengke, and Jaedyn are all at different points in their pursuit of undergraduate degrees, but they share a curiosity for what’s to come next—both for their own futures, and for the future of their home state.
Traveling across Indiana to take a closer look at some of the state’s leading industries, they see that no matter what their fellow Hoosiers are using to innovate—be it seeds, software, or steel—they’re all working toward the same goal: finding new solutions for a changing world. As their eyes are opened to all of the possibilities Indiana has to offer, they realize that when you find the courage to accept change, you also gain the courage to grow.

Finding rewarding work without a four-year degree

Like many other young adults, Shyane, Alex, and Ryan feel like they’ve been pushed down the path to a four-year degree—but they can’t keep ignoring the questions that have arisen along the way: “What other routes are out there? What about the people who’ve jumped off this assembly line to handcraft a fulfilling career?” 
 
To find the answers, they cross the country to talk to people working in skill-forward careers—people who’ve embraced other roads to opportunity, like trade schools, certificate programs, and on-the-job training. As they uncover the talent, precision, and passion being put into skilled jobs and trades, they realize that not every success story has to start with a four-year degree—a fulfilling life is built any way you choose.

You have the power to build yourself a better life—all you have to do is equip yourself with the right set of skills.

We’re sending three people on a road trip across the U.S., fueled by Penn Foster and Strada Education Network, to seek out individuals who’ve built lives they’re proud of by learning skills and trades, and taking on all kinds of training outside of getting a four-year degree. The work they do doesn’t depend on years of school—but it does take skill, determination, and the will to get things done. We’re on a mission to tell their stories, learn from their struggles, and show that there’s not just one way to make a life for yourself.

Room to Grow

Texas high schoolers choose their education focus

Follow along with four groups of high school students as they explore their local regions of Texas, talking to college students and professionals alike as they seek inspiration for their next steps. They sit down with people in varied education and career paths, from a fashion student to an Air Force pilot to a lawyer-turned-wind energy pioneer, and more. Throughout the journey, the roadtrippers realize that focusing their career aspirations doesn’t have to limit their options for the future; choosing a path can open up their worlds in ways they had never imagined.

Texas is creating a future wide open with possibility, and students there are ready to step into its potential.

But high schoolers are also expected to make crazy-big choices about their futures—especially in Texas, where students are expected to choose a specialized area of study...essentially taking the first step towards choosing a career!
That’s why this fall, we’re sending four teams of high school students from Texas on a series of road trip adventures through their local region of the state. Exploring everywhere from El Paso to the Gulf Coast—and everything in between—each team will do a deep dive into the educational and occupational opportunities arising on their very own stomping grounds. Follow along with these four teams as they let go of the familiar, and uncover the kind of adventures only Texas can provide.

Yvette, Sade, and Zohraish are all seniors at Georgia State University looking to the future, and finding it full of uncertainty and change. They set out on the road to speak with alumni who have navigated unique hurdles, and can help them embrace the winding road ahead. After meeting diverse leaders in travel writing, psychology, international business, and more, the roadtrippers realize that even if it feels like they're on shaky ground, they’ve made it this far—and there’s no limit to where they can go from here.

Follow the journeys of Michael, Ryan, and Summer--three young people who are part of the 5.6 million youth in America currently out of work, out of school, and struggling with challenges as extreme as homelessness. As they travel the country in Roadtrip Nation’s green RV, they meet people who’ve been in their shoes—people who show them it’s possible to not only rise above adversity, but harness it for success.

This summer, three out of work and out of school youth will climb aboard Roadtrip Nation’s RV and travel across the country to interview inspiring individuals who have also struggled with adversity and overcome it to build fulfilling lives and careers. We’ll film the experience and feature it in a documentary to give young people the tools to see—and start pursuing—the possibilities.

UCLA Roadtrip

University of California, Los Angeles students and alumni

Making it to and through college is no small accomplishment—but how do you transition from the classroom to the workforce? Coradata, Grant, and Jun are all UCLA students looking to the future, and finding it full of uncertainty. So they set out on the road to speak with alumni who’ve faced unique hurdles, and can help them embrace the winding road ahead. After meeting with people in diverse fields like molecular biology, screenwriting, UX design, and more, the roadtrippers realize that it’s impossible to map out the future perfectly—but there’s no such thing as a wrong turn if you listen to yourself.

We met these three at a crossroads—well into their careers, but feeling unfulfilled and wondering what might still be waiting for them. Dana, a grandmother who worried the workforce had passed her by; Jeremy, a military veteran eyeing a new career path; and Bernita, a mother of two who felt boxed in by her lack of a degree. When they embarked on a road trip to find new pathways, they’d each lived a lifetime’s worth of experiences—but they were ready for what was next. Follow their eye-opening road trip across the country to explore alternative forms of education and training, and talk to people who have navigated life’s turns with tenacity—and without traditional four-year degrees—then check out our follow-up with them two years after their journey to see where they are now. No one knows exactly what the future of work will look like, but their stories and transformations show that it can hold opportunities for all—and it doesn’t have to leave anyone behind.

Tech entrepreneurship’s next generation

Tag along as Jordane, Carissa, and Alicia—three young people eager to become part of tech entrepreneurship’s next generation—travel across the country to talk to founders and CEOs of companies who are building communities, rethinking media, leading innovations in health care, and even imagining a better democracy. Throughout a whirlwind journey meeting people like Cindy Eckert, who invests in companies founded by and focused on women, as well as other inspiring entrepreneurs who are specifically helping underserved groups, the roadtrippers realize that entrepreneurship is about more than just business—it’s also about building a better, more inclusive world.

For many college students, the number of potential paths open to them can become paralyzing. Luckily, there’s an amazing network of alumni ahead of them—and they’re willing to help light the way. 

That’s why this summer, fueled by the University of California, Irvine (UCI), we’re sending three UCI students on a road trip through Southern California to connect with local alumni in the region. They’ll hear how members of the Anteater community used their experiences at UCI to propel their lives in exciting new directions, and gain the encouragement needed to confidently navigate college’s twists and turns.
