Here's the path I took:
Some High School
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
There's an awful, untrue stigma that comes with not finishing high school or getting a degree. 'You're lazy' and a 'drop out.' 'You'll never get much further in life.'
How I responded:
Nobody every gives enough benefit of the doubt to others anymore. You have absolutely no clue what goes on in somebody else's life, be kinder. So many people come to resent (or regret resenting) their life later because of the way other humans made you feel. I regret it now that I'm older, not finishing high school. I think back and wonder "maybe if I just tried harder" or "pushed through," but nobody should have to think that. You got up and tried, that is enough.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I have many medical issues both physical and mental my whole life, my first diagnosis starting at 12. I'm still mentally active, I'm smart enough to understand, but I still learn differently and it's harder. Teachers haven't always been considerate.
