My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Having to work at a very young age; being part of a big family meant once you reached a certain age, you had to also contribute.
2.
Not being able to further my education. Was able to complete and graduate from high school.
3.
Having to leave my country in search of a better future.
4.
Starting all alone in a nation where I had no one and where the language is a huge barrier.
5.
Being able to learn a second language and finally being able to communicate with others.
6.
Starting my family.
7.
Finally being able to obtain a legal status.
8.
Being recognized on my worth, ethics, and credentials.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
I have been advised that this job requires a lot of hands-on work, which makes it a dirty job since you're handling with a lot of oil and other substances.
How I responded:
The compensation is rewarding. It is a very dirty job but it is worth it in my opinion.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I overcame being able to succeed in a country that was not mine. I came to this nation very young and was not able to go to further my education after high school. I began working in this company and worked my way up to a supervisor role.
Having to move to Illinois by myself at a very young age was overwhelming. I had to work extra hard to learn the language and find a job that actually gave me the satisfaction I was searching for.
