How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
I began my career in journalism, at a time when digital communication was starting to emerge. I was told newspapers were a thing of the past.
How I responded:
With any field you choose, choose it because you enjoy it—do not do something because it'll make you rich or make you famous, unless the actual work you will be doing is something you will enjoy. I love to write, so journalism was a natural choice. With the advent of digital media, traditional journalism jobs were harder to come by (and harder to keep). But always keep an open mind to other ways to use your talents and skills.
