My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
First I transitioned from hospitality to real estate consulting.
2.
I moved back to Houston and joined Capital One, where now I invest in housing funds.
3.
Then I transitioned to banking when I got laid off (along with many) due to a merger.
4.
I moved to Louisville for a bank real estate underwriting job in tax credit affordable housing.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Parents:
When I considered going into musical theater in high school, I was told that it wasn't a productive career (didn't make money) and it was too probable I wouldn't make it.
How I responded:
I didn't really overcome it, I went to a respectable college and found something else I was interested in (real estate). While I'm lucky I found something else I really liked, I do wish I would have dug deep and ignored the discouraging feedback. I would say to pursue your interest with focus and abandon. Even if you change directions later, there will be no regrets or questions about "what if."
