My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
First I figured out that I wouldn't be happy doing what was available in the tiny town I grew up in.
2.
Education was my only way out.
3.
I was interested in EVERYTHING!
4.
I loved art but figured out it needed to be secondary. I needed to support myself somehow.
5.
Shadowed a lot of different people to find my fit.
6.
Went through the steps to earn my degree and the art would always be there.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
When I was in high school my art teacher said I was terrible at art. Other students bullied me. Some made me feel I wasn't good enough. The road was too long too far.
How I responded:
The ONLY voice that really matters is YOURS. No one can take power away from you. That's up to you to give it away. You have an internal dialogue that you can influence. Don't ever allow yourself to berate yourself. Plenty of others will try to. You need to be your own best friend and love and encourage yourself as you would a dear friend.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I had no financial help and no frame of reference to even attempt college. I had to start at ground zero and figure it out. Ask questions. You learn a lot from your mistakes! BE BRAVE! Nothing is impossible except what you give up on.
