Advice for getting started
Recently, I have had to reevaluate a lot of the things that I believe in and what I can do about protecting those things. I decided these things were non-negotiable for me and that I could either move away or I could stay and fight. I chose to stay and fight.

My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Grew up in Georgia in a lower middle-class family—was driven to get into a good college so she could get a well-paid job to support herself.
2.
Attended Georgia State University, with the help of a state scholarship, where she received her bachelor’s degree in management.
3.
Worked for GE in a variety of sales and marketing roles for almost 20 years.
4.
Admits she has never really been interested in politics, but when she moved to El Paso, TX, she felt there were changes that could be made to make it a great place to raise her family.
5.
She started getting actively involved by throwing fundraisers for city council members and “block walking” to raise awareness.
6.
Has been friends with Congressman Beto O’Rourke ever since she and her husband had supported him during his victorious congressional campaign.
7.
In 2017, she was approached by Congressman O’Rourke to run his campaign for the 2018 United States Senate election in Texas.
8.
Says she is dedicated to bringing transparency, accountability, authenticity, and kindness into politics.

Recently, I have had to reevaluate a lot of the things that I believe in and what I can do about protecting those things. I decided these things were non-negotiable for me and that I could either move away or I could stay and fight. I chose to stay and fight.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I grew up in a lower middle-class family, so there wasn't a lot of extra money laying around. I've always worked in order to provide for myself. I would take every other quarter off in college in order to work so I could afford to pay for my classes.
